Tate Thompson is an undergraduate student at Fairmont State University, pursuing a B.A. in Theatre, with an emphasis in audio engineering and sound design. Most recently, he closed The Mystery of Edwin Drood at Fairmont State University as the audio engineer/A1 and sound designer. His recent works in the community include being the sound technician for It's A Wonderful Life at West Virginia Public Theatre and lighting designer for United Way of Marion & Taylor Counties's "Dancing with the Stars" fundraiser.
Tate spent summer 2018 & summer 2019 in Loch Sheldrake, NY at Stagedoor Manor as the only sound designer, serving on the Lighting (LX) Team. He finished the season (9 weeks) having designed 42 shows while also assisting the LX Team throughout the summer.
Tate is a member of Alpha Psi Omega and Theatrical Sound Designers and Composers Association (TSDCA).


Tate will be working toward his MFA in Sound and Digital Media at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville beginning Fall 2020.
